TAYLOR SWIFT THROWS AWAY FAN MAIL!!??

TAYLOR SWIFT THROWS AWAY FAN MAIL!!??

Unopened Taylor Swift Fan Mail -- Lots of It! -- Found in Dumpster Behind School

taylor swift

I don't think any of us buy into the guise that celebrities actually read their fan mail. Sure, a few particularly touching letters may make their awesome PR-potential way into stars' mansions each year, but for the most part, fan mail gets read by interns and assistants. However, that said, it typically gets read. Okay, maybe it doesn't always get read, but it at least gets opened. Okay, fine! Maybe it doesn't get read and/or opened, but "hundreds" of letters usually don't get tossed in a public garbage bin in one fell swoop. That's cold. And really bad PR. So I guess you could say that Taylor Swift is in trouble trouble trouble. A woman recently found a shit-ton of fan mail letters -- many covered with heart stickers and glitter -- in a dumpster behind a school.

After learning about the incident, Taylor's spokesperson said: "Taylor gets thousands of fan letters every day, and they are delivered to her management office. After the letters are opened and read, they are recycled."

Nobody expects Taylor -- who loooooooves her fans so much -- to read her own fan mail. That's not reasonable. But this is definitely an awkward peek behind the curtain of the singer's celebritydom. As Billboard put it: "The incident is an unfortunate look into the impersonal inner workings of Swift's machine. She has nearly 25 million Twitter followers and has dedicated many of her awards to her legions of fans. On her MySpace page, part of her biography reads: 'I've loved my fans from the very first day, but they've said things and done things recently that make me feel like they're my friends -- more now than ever before. I'll never go a day without thinking about our memories together.'"

There's obviously no way a busy person like Taylor can take the time to read each and every piece of mail she gets. But somebody should at least open the things and not leave them in a dumpster for all to see. We know Taylor isn't Wonder Woman, but Christ, we don't want to see how exactly the sausage is made.
